2009 France - Pierrefonds, the Merlin castle

The first stop of our French Holiday was Pierrefonds, the castle being used as the set of the BBC Merlin show. The castle is relatively new, but suits the Merlin series with its magical towers.

2009 Caius Alumni Lunch and Bumps

13th June saw us visiting Gonville and Caius for lunch, and speeches for the support from the college alumni. The feast was marvellous and scrumptious, with whole crabs by the plate. We met up with Richard and Andrea. We all drove over to Caius Field to watch the May Bumps. Caius has won head of the river for several years, last year was not a successful year, and Caius dropped down to fourth. This year was a recovery year, and Caius had made two bumps and was lying second. Alas we were not to see a win. Trinity First and Third held on with grim determination.

2010 Greys

We visited the National Trust house, Greys Court on the 26th April. The house was not open, but the gardens were fabulous. We arrived a little too early for the wisteria walk, which received much coverage on the local television service a couple of weeks later. The bluebells were marvellous.

2009 Kingswood, Wotton Tug Of War

Kingswood and Wotton parishes battle it out for the annual tug of war on Monday Bank holiday 25th May 2009. This was the first time for two years that the tug of war was completed on the scheduled day. The sun came out to play, there was no flooding and we all had a jolly good time. Unusually Kingswood were able to field a full team of pullers, and the men won. The women were not so successful and let the Kingswood side down.
