I am interested in which Holts from Grendon Underwood and the other nearby villages emigrated to Australia. I have lots on the English side but less on the Australian. I know of the GREAVES and ORGILL families (connected by marriage) and John Holt. I believe a Matthew Holt also emigrated?

Anything more would be much appreciated.

Hello Stephen! Just had a great laugh looking at your photos from Verbier 1976 and 1977!! I see from the comments page that Halina, Tom and Mandy have seen them long before me, don’t know how it took me so long!! I caught up with Lilo (Swiss girl from Zermatt pics) last year after not seeing her for 25 years, it was great fun.

  9. David Blasdale says:

    Hello All Blasdale’s
My grandfathers name was Thomas Blasdale and was born in Nottingham he and his wife Florence ‘Joan’ had one daughter and one son, Kathleen and Keith.
Keith has two sons Darren and David and we live in Adelaide SA with our partners.
I have two children a girl and a boy and Darren has one boy and two girls.
Kathleen has two children Joanne and John and they have a couple kids each, they still reside in Nottingham.
We havent seen my grandfathers name on the website to date and were wondering if we are related due to the unusual surname.
Both Darren and myself have boys so the Blasdale name will continue.
Please drop us a line if you can update any information on my grandfather Thomas Blasdale.

very very interesting photo’s, having stumbled across your site it’s given me new inspiration. As a father of 2 small children and being in the web industry I think I may dedicate a web site to my kids growing up (all of which I’m sure they’ll curse me for in years to come) All the best to you Blasdale’s…. to the future. Do you happen to know if there is an semi-open market in Telavi, something that might resemble a souk, except that it is not in an arabic country. I would really appreciate it if you could answer thuis question for me. Kind regards, HJ

    Blasts from the Caius past

Hello Steve:How goes it? I wonder if you remember John Lewis, Simon Potter, Norman Housley and Ravi Kanbur (me) from your Caius days. We have stayed in touch, and often think about you. I came across your (very impressive) website while surfing the net, so I thought I would send a contact email.Briefly, here is how things look with the four of us:John is in South Africa (on to wife number 3, 2 children) working at the South African Democratic Teachers Union.Simon is in London (off from wife number 1, 2 children) working at a big housing association in London for the deprived.Norman (still with wife number 1, 2 children) is Professor of Medieval History at Leciester.Ravi (still with wife number 1, no children) is Professor at Cornell–my website is http://www.people.cornell.edu/pages/sk145I guess all we need to do is to look at your website to see what you have been up to! It really is amazing how many things you seem to be doing.I come to England off and on, and meet up with Norman and Simon, so perhaps we can meet up some time if it all works out.All the very best,Ravi.

Dear allmy name is Denise and I am working for ITN Factual on a series of programs for ITV, which will be broadcasted in Sept at 6pm and will be presented by Neil Fox; the shows are clip based ( any wacky, funny unusual sports, funny TV moments, etc): in the previous programs we used clips from cheese rolling competition for example. I am trying to get hold of some clips of “Welly Throwing” competitions to use on our program. Have you got any moving images of the game or do you know somebody who does?Kind Regards Denise Castelli 0207.4304756

Steve,I had no idea you had had a bad landing last year at Bache, I felt terrible when I heard that you had broken your leg. How bad a break was it? I can’t believe you drove all the way back home with that. I remember being horrifed by Ollies crash landing, but that’s about it. Have you made a complete recovery?I hope you’re managing some flying now, and hope to see you this summer in Wales…Becky

Thank you for sharing your photographs re the Dinner Extravaganza at Pitahayas. Im currently in East Timor the world’s newest country, located above Darwin Australia on the map, and Im working for the United Nations until May next year here. I have known Paul and Julie Lord almost 30 years and was lucky to see Paul earlier this year in the UK and share some laughs. My living conditions here are very poor due to the state of the country and its terrible recent history, but ironically I have access to the internet and your photographs were a very pleasant surprise! Please pass on my regards to Paul and Julie when you next see them, Im sure Paul will be surprised when you mention my name, he is a good man and a good friend. Regards, Terry Dunning .

The police were NOT heavy handed at Ascot; they were performing their duties. I suspect people would have complained far more if things had got out of hand and soemone been knifed or damage done. And what about the Mexican wave from four polcie sitting on a bench?
