United Arab Emirates and Oman - February 18th 2005.

We flew out of Heathrow on Quatar airlines on a very efficiently run airbus. Steve watched Thunderbirds on the plane, while Rosemary watched Criminals. Had supper and breakfast on the plane, landing at Doha at 6:30. Short flight from Doha to Dubai, and another breakfast.
No one from the hotel or Explore were waiting for us, so we waited around catching up with others from the Explore group. Eventually the hotel bus from the Sun and Sand hotel arrived to take us to the slightly run down hotel. First thing was off to the bank to get some money, before washing and meeting up for a tour in the afternoon.
The holiday was organised by Explore. The trip in the Dhow was organised by Khasab Travel and Tours

While working for Cable and Wireless on an SAP roll out project for the West Indies, Rosemary spent four weeks in Kingston, Jamaica.
Local SSI

This is a local SSI near Great Horwood. The ants have not been disturbed for ages, and have created some quite nice anthills.
Cambridge Society visit to Piggots

The Buckinghamshire branch of the Cambridge organised a visit to Piggots near High Wycombe. This is the house where the sculptor, typographer and engraver, Eric Gill lived from 1928 until his death in 1940.
Despite being a very religious man he produced many erotic etchings, and lived with his wife and various mistresses.
The visit allowed us to look around his workshop, and the woods nearby. The Society also produced a BBQ in the woods.

Jules Verne trip of Turkey - 4th September to 11th September

We visited Turkey from the 4th September 2005 to the 11th September 2005, travelling with the tour company Voyages Jules Verne. The trip was to see the treasures of Istanbul and the surrounding regions. I believe we have now visited more mosques than churches.
