We went away for a long weekend to Wales. The weather was wonderful and very hot. We started by visiting Castle Coch and Caerphilly Castle on Friday. Arrived at the hotel, Park Inn, Cardiff for free nights on the points Steve had earned at the Radisson. Not impressed by this hotel. Caught the bus into the centre where we ate at an Indian restaurant. Quite a smart restaurant, but food not so hot.

Saturday, breakfast in the hotel was rather poor. On to the v good local bus and into the centre again, where we went to the docks and looked at the Torchwood fountain. Saw the Welsh Assembly and the music hall. Took a rather long-winded route back to Cardiff centre. Over an hour. Why did we do that? To see some of Cardiff. We then did a tour of Cardiff Castle and had supper at Nandos in the Yard.

Sunday we took the car to see St Fagans, which we really quite enjoyed. Some of the house guides were a little unnerving. We spent more than five hours there. Then on to Penarth to find the house Rosemary was brought up in and failed but did find her Nan’s house. Alas spotted by the owner as we were taking a photograph. Finally a meal at Cardiff Docks. Pizza Express.

Monday was a wet day, so decided to head off home, but stopped at the Big Pit on the way home. Good tourist attraction lead by ex-miners. We were caught in the miner’s baths by a guide who wanted Rosemary and me as models for a foreign student’s research project (can’t take piccies of children these days, so hence us).
