This year 2011 saw us going to Bulgaria on a Dragonfly specialist holiday run by Naturetrek. We also had our usual week in Guernsey, and the sad gits reunion which included John Lewis who came over from South Africa. Managed to get tickets for Glastonbury, and also attended the special Ed Fest in Devon where I met up with some old ex Walker friends. The Cambridge Society weekend trip was to the Forest of Dean. Closer to home there was a rock evening at the Plough and Anchor pub. On a sadder note John Wilkinson, Rosemary’s father died.

Friday night at the Plough and Anchor, Kingswood. R&B band playing some old favourites.

Sad Gits weekend in Essex hosted by Richard and Andrea. The following in Attendance were Maggie and Ravi, Rosemary and Steve, Reiko and Mike, Valerie and Norman and Choir Master Simon

Glastonbury 2011. A mixture of rain, mud and hot sunshine. No Rosemary this year, so as was free to do what I wanted, managing to stay up to see one sunrise above the Park Stage, and staying up to just before sunrise around the stone circle. That was a revelation.

Invited to a lunchtime birthday party. It was Annie’s **th birthday. Was meant to be a surprise, but one guest replied to Annie, in the belief that a husband could not be organising anything on his own. What a sexist thought. Weather not quite up to scratch, they even had the central heating on, and the Aga roaring away, but it didn't stop us all having a lovely time.

The annual three day Berkshire Cambridge Society weekend away happened on May13th - May 15th. The weekend started in Gloucester where we had a tour of Gloucester Cathedral, climbing the 249 steps to the top of the tower. On route to the top we stopped to admire the roof space and fire prevention measures and the bells. Following the tower tour, was a tour of the cathedral, and the Harry Potter Cloisters. I was even shown where Catherine used to climb the tower when she was a teenager living in Gloucester.

Lee On Solent, Hampshire. I tried out my new Canon 100 - 400 mm lens. Took a few pictures of water activities on the Solent

Ed Aldridge 50th birthday party. Headed down to Combe Martin in Devon for the 50th birthday party of an Walker / Elevon colleague, Ed Aldridge. He had arranged some bands, beer, wine BBQ and loads of people to celebrate his birthday. Met up with old friends, Mary Devine, Phil Blunt and Paul Dixon. Tessa and Robin also attended.
Remember getting back into my tent at 6.30 am in the morning after all night drinking and listening to music.

March 18th 2011 we visited the National Trust house of Upton Park. Fabulous house created by Lord and Lady Bearsted. Lord Bearsted was the former chairman of Shell.

March 5th 2011 we met up with some Cambridge University, Gonville and Caius alumni to celebrate a brief visit from Jon L. Lovely weather, even took a short walk and visited a couple of churches.

Our Summer holiday was in Bulgaria on a Naturetrek holiday. The holiday specialised in Dragonflies. We traveled around the country spotting various different dragonflies. There was plenty of opportunity to view birds and plants.
