R and I went for a two week trip to France. We travelled by ferry to Dover and headed South on the motorway network towards Maussane les Alpilles.  Stopped at a services and stayed overnight in a small hotel.

The camp site at Maussane les Alpilles was relatively nice, hedges around each pitch for privacy.  The ground was hard to get the pegs in, though as the week progressed they were easily inserted into the wet ground.  Yes it rained, and the wind blew .  A neighbour who had been there for months informed us this was the first rain they had had.  We also managed to camp in the one place where the mistral wind blew into the site.  Lying awake at night hearing the wind in the far away trees and bracing yourself for the inevitable thrashing of the tent a few seconds later.

While there we saw the village fete, where they recreated the olden days.  Fun.  We walked in the surrounding hills and visited the hill fort of Les Baux-de-Provence, the  fabulous Pont Du Gard and historic town of Arles.

We stayed a week, and then went up north to our friends Linda and Mike who live in Arcais.  We had rented their holiday home. Various trips around the locale.  Wonderful weather, blue skies and warm evenings.
