KC&RC AGM

Blasdale Home Posted on December 4, 2002 by SteveAugust 8, 2017

The AGM of the KC&RC was held in the village hall.  Barry stepped down from the committee.  Richard has taken up the post of Chairman; his main concern was he going to have to use computers. Mick to continue as secretary and Ian as the treasurer.  I am still on the committee.

We decided to keep the club running in the same form.  Some discussion on purchasing automatic traps, but again we have a couple we can use. Could we also advertise, or do something to get new members into the club.  Peter said the P&A were coming to the Boxing Day shoot.  Some members thought this was worthwhile and we should help and try and recruit a few

To the pub for a few pints of beer and some sandwiches, chips etc

Shooting

Blasdale Home Posted on November 17, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

Today was a club shoot at the Kingswood Clay and Rough Club. About ten people turned up for a shoot on Pete’s farm. Afterwards I did a bit of wood cutting in the grave yard, and then said goodbye to Rikki from the Plough and Anchor. He is moving on to the Bull and Butcher.

The Bank Holiday Weekend

Blasdale Home Posted on August 27, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

This weekend and Bank holiday we basically stayed at home.

The Sunday was the return of the Welsh, (St Brides Major) clay shoot. They arrived at 11.30 and shot the 80 bird layout. After the shoot, there was lunch and much beer and wine. The result, we beat them on the day, but they won the whole overall shoot by six shots. When you think each of us need only have scored half a shot more to win, then you can see how close it was.

The Monday we ran a shoot for the Grendon Underwood football team. There was a lot of set-up and clearing up at the end. I had to show most of the shooters how to handle and shoot with a shotgun. They, never having shot before.

Kingswood Clay and Rough Shoot Club BBQ

Blasdale Home Posted on August 3, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

Saturday was the day for the KCRC BBQ. Had a clay shoot late afternoon. Rather pathetic score from me. Then a BBQ hosted by Pete Sherrif, of burgers, steak and sausages. Lots of beer and wine.

Afterwards a game of aunt sally and a large scale game of Jenga

Clay Shooting

Blasdale Home Posted on May 22, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

A quick 45 minutes clay shoot at Pete Sherriff’s mini sporting layout. What an absolute diasater, I kept missing or my shells were lead less. At least the rain held off.

Bit worried about Saturday when I go to Donnington Park for the Ozzfest. Why was the MTV series, the Osbournes delayed by one week last Sunday, I was looking forward to watching it.

I have started doing the web site for the beating the boundaries, should have it loaded on the web sometime next week.

Welsh match

Blasdale Home Posted on May 5, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

Up and out early to catch the coach to Wales for the clay match against Saint Bride’s Major. We arrived and had a 75 target shoot in the quarry. I was quite pleased with my 40. It was better than most of the true Kingswood club members.

Unfortunately the Welsh beat us. Their high gun, shot 59, seemingly getting all the difficult shots but dropping some easier shots.

They had their usual pair of birds across the top of the quarry. Most of us have real difficulty with this stand. It makes for an interesting shoot being very different to our own shoots.

Back to the pub at 2.30 for beer and roast beef lunch. And what a surprise, I have never heard some many positive comments about the price of the beer, £1.50 for a pint (20 fluid ounce, a little over 500 ml) .

Wednesday Clay shooting

Blasdale Home Posted on May 1, 2002 by SteveAugust 7, 2017

Pete Sherrif has started his Wednesday evening compact clay shoot. Went over and had a couple of rounds in preparation for our match against the Welsh at the weekend. Despite the sun, it was was very much brass monkey weather.
