Packed and breakfast of scrambled egg and bacon,  lovely  bread and salami. Loaded up and off at about 8 for the drive  to the Brandberg mountain where  the White Lady is to be found.

The Land Rover  through  a wobbly when one of its sensors detected a failure.  Sorted by disconnecting  the sensor. Later it had problems with fuel starvation.

On route to the Brandberg we stopped off for fuel and Magnums. Very civilised country, good roads (much better than those back home in Buckinghamshire) and Magnum ice creams.

The White Lady site on the Brandberg Range was a tourist trap.  It had a car park, gift shop,   loos and local guides to take you up.   The walk up was nearly an hour with plenty of stops, lead by a very elegant guide.  A small group of  us continued up to The School Girls, another famous Brandberg rock art site.  This was a more tricky climb up through boulders.  It was extremely hot and one of our number suffered an angina  attack.

On the way down another one of us became rather dehydrated  and even the local guide asked for extra water for herself from other guides coming up the hill.  She had not expected the additional walk up to The School Girls.

Reckon I must have been a tad dehydrated as well.  Couple of litres of water seemed not to want me to go to the loo.  It was a lovely warm [pah! It was hot; in the 40s! Ed] day to be walking on the hillside.

We continued on to our new lodge, arriving shortly before sunset.  I was able to get some nice pictures from our glorious room just as the sun set.

We had been split across two sites for the evening. We were in the larger camp.  Each hut,  with a solid wood floor,  straw roof and canvas sides is set amongst granite boulders.  You can’t see or hear your neighbours.  It’s so quiet and the view is fantastic.  Sitting on the balcony writing  this before going off for supper.  We are facing West and saw a glorious sunset in the evening.

Supper, served in the canvas dining room,  was a grapefruit salad followed by beef or sole. (A choice,  not an identity problem.)
